This specimen was collected in 1996 from a prominent
nob high up in a forest of the Salt Springs Valley in the Sierra Nevadas. The road leading to the Miracle Mountain Mine goes
from basecamp at the Moore Creek & Mokelumne River confluence consists of about a dozen switchbacks and has ruts that
swallow tires whole. This area not only has Andradite Garnets but also has beautiful Epidote crystals up to two feet in length.
The following minerals have also been found there; Scheelite to 5cm, Titanite, Axinite, Molybdenite to 2.5cm, Pyrite,
Chalcopyrite, Calcite, Feldspar, Quartz, Pyroxene and Amphibole. Some specimens have multiple minerals together which can
be an exciting find. Azurite and Malachite have been found in some vugs!
